Contemporary Meets Traditional Part 2 The Finished Look

We are proud to present the finished look of our Contemporary Meets Traditional kitchen in Caerleon. Mr and Mrs M were thrilled with the results. We revamped their old dated kitchen with a contemporary new one. The original kitchen layout only altered slightly but the effect was dramatic. We replaced oak doors with bespoke hand painted doors and a laminate worktop with Granite. We also extended their original breakfast bar/table to allow four people to sit comfortably at the breakfast bar.

We exchanged their original oven for two single ovens, one of them, a combination oven which has a microwave facility included. This enabled them to free up some extra work surface where the original microwave was sat.The Bosch built-in oven has an automatic self-cleaning system know as pyrolytic cleaning, the cycle heats the oven to 480˚c reducing any dirt to ash which can simply be wiped away once cooled. The cabinet which houses both oven was built to the ceiling to illuminate dust collecting on the top. The top door was designed and made with an angle to the right hand side so it could fit neatly under the slope of the stairs.

The corner unit was design to fill the complete corner adding extra storage not available with the previous design. We added double doors to give a balanced look. After some gentle persuasion and discussions with friends and family we convinced Mr and Mrs M to change their original gas hob to an induction hob, this gave them an uncluttered look to the granite. After many trips to our granite suppliers workshops, to make sure they were happy with the final pieces, they choose River White for their worktop and breakfast bar table. We added a niche above the hob for the cooking oils. The original hood was removed to make way for the new contemporary replacement. (see previous blog 'Contemporary Meets Traditional Part 1 The concept' to view the old hood and see the difference for yourself).

Collaboration between our client and our designer Deb, brought many thoughtful design ideas into this delightful kitchen. These ideas included the addition of a oak wood lined shelf for their wine bottles, an Oak bookshelf for Mrs M's recipe books and a small drawer for those easily misplaced items such as keys and mobile phones

Shortly after we had finished the kitchen project we received this wonderful testimonial
