A Cottage Kitchen Reimagined for Modern Family Life.

This project began with a kitchen and utility room that simply were not working hard enough for busy family life. The layout felt dated, storage was limited and the utility space in particular had been overlooked for years. The brief was to retain the charm of the cottage setting while creating a practical and welcoming kitchen that felt lighter, more spacious and far better organised.

Although the footprint remained largely the same, the transformation was significant.

A Smarter Layout.

One of the biggest changes was rethinking how the room functioned day to day. We removed the range cooker and secondary oven, replacing them with a single oven solution that better suited the family’s cooking style and freed up valuable space. The introduction of a multifunctional island unlocked the design. With built in seating, generous storage and ample worktop space, it replaced the dining table and created a sociable and hardworking centre to the home. It is now where meals are prepared, homework is tackled and the family comes together.

A Utility Room Given New Purpose.

The utility room needed care and attention. Working within a similar layout, we focused on maximising every inch. More storage, more worktop space and improved lighting have turned what was once a forgotten area into a practical extension of the kitchen.

Stacked appliances, carefully designed cabinetry and thoughtful detailing ensure the space supports modern living while still feeling cohesive with the rest of the home.

Character with Practicality.

The design remains sympathetic to the cottage setting. An oak feature mantel adds warmth and character, and natural materials run throughout to create a calm and welcoming feel.

A Belfast sink paired with a Quooker tap provides a timeless focal point. Beneath the sink, we installed a stone shelf rather than a painted surface. This small detail protects against everyday splashes and ensures long term durability.

The clients chose our complete design, build and install service. We coordinated plumbing, electrics and project management through our trusted partners, ensuring the renovation progressed smoothly from start to finish.

The result is a kitchen and utility space that feels brighter, more spacious and properly considered. It works hard for everyday life while respecting the character of the home.
